F Off I’m Gay folded stoneware Note

In 1988 Sir Ian McKellen revealed that while lobbying against Section 28 he visited the Conservative MP Michael Howard. Howard refused to change his position but asked McKellen to leave an autograph for his children. He agreed, but wrote "Fuck off, I'm gay."

Inspired by this and my Ian McKellen gay note piece from Instagram, this is one of 3 folded style versions with underglaze pencil decoration. One side says Fuck off I’m gay and the other side Ian Mckellen with the date he wrote it in 1988.

The smooth white clay is fired twice up to 1,260 degrees to stoneware which makes the glaze and paper look authentic with the off-white colour and lines baked into the piece.
